Dado que se trata de un discurso, el autor condensa en cuarenta y ocho páginas nuestra historia lingüística siguiendo una estructura cronológica que le lleva a enumerar sucesivamente los distintos pobladores que se asentaron en la Península. así como la influencia de otras lenguas sobre el castellano.
