The published articles in this book correspond to the papers presented in the symposium of the same name as part of the activities of the 52nd International Congress of Americanists (ICA) held in Seville, Spain in July 2006 under the title of "People and Cultures of the Americas: Dialogues between globality and locality". The comprised works offer a vision of "the Mexican" in art and the projection and identity generated over history in the imagery of the Americas.
